Another Chance For Greatness

Former UNC Linebacker Tomon Fox Returns to the New York Giants Practice Squad

Another chance for greatness

Former UNC linebacker Tomon Fox has signed a contract with the New York Giants and been added to their practice squad. The Giants initially cut Fox, an undrafted free agent and former walk-on at UNC, at the conclusion of training camp.

The Giants are currently 2-6 this season and have struggled defensively, allowing more than 30 points per game. Fox could provide depth and athleticism to a struggling Giants defense.

Fox's college career at UNC was impressive

Fox was a three-year starter for the Tar Heels and finished his college career with 216 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

He started 13 games as a senior in 2021, recording 81 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and an interception.

Fox's playmaking ability and leadership were a big reason for UNC's success in recent years.

A future in the NFL?

Fox has the potential to be a valuable contributor to the Giants. He is a hard hitter with a nose for the football. He also has good athleticism and can cover ground well.

If Fox can make the most of his opportunity on the practice squad, he could earn a spot on the active roster and contribute to the Giants' defense.

Here are some things to watch for with Fox this season:

  • Can he make an impact on special teams?
  • Will he be able to contribute on defense?
  • Can he earn a spot on the active roster?

Only time will tell, but Fox's return to the Giants is a positive sign for both the player and the team. We wish him the best of luck in his NFL career.
